Earlier today we announced the return of Jack King to Stevenage on a permanent deal.
The 31-year old midfielder made 23 appearances for Boro during a loan spell earlier this season from Scunthorpe United and upon signing today, expressed to us his delight at returning to The Lamex Stadium.
“It’s really good to be back. It took a little bit longer than what I’d hoped but the most important thing is we got the deal done, everyone is happy and I’m now looking to get back into the team and kick on again.”
“I’ve got a good rapport with the club and I really enjoyed my time here on loan. It was a fairly successful time and I wish we’d been slightly higher up the league when we left, but I’ve got some unfinished business and hopefully we can kick on again.”
Jack’s loan spell ended earlier this month but the midfielder revealed he’s been keeping tabs on the team’s progress over the past few weeks.
“I’ve stayed in touch with all the lads here," he said. "I’ve made some good friends when I was here, there’s a good friendly atmosphere in the changing room and in-and-around the stadium too. I’ve been looking out for the results and it was a good result on Saturday. Hopefully that can be a base for us moving up the league.”
After his successful loan spell, Jack revealed he had a number of deals on the table but a permanent offer from Stevenage just felt right.
“It’s always nice to have that security. I had a few offers from various clubs, some permanent and some loan, so it was important for me to get all the offers in and make my decision. Despite financially not being the best, it felt right [to sign for Stevenage] and that was important too.
“There’s a lot to be said for your happiness and your enjoyment of the game. Sometimes the best deal financially is not always the right one for you and that proves so in this case.”
Since his initial departure King's Twitter account has received plenty of messages from Boro fans asking him to return. When asked about all the notifications on his phone, a smiling Jack said, "It’s nice to be wanted. Generally if the fans like you then you’ve done something right on the pitch.
"Hopefully that’s the case for me here but I won’t be resting on my laurels, the loan is done and dusted now and I’ve got to get my performance levels right back up there again.”
