MCANUFF: WE WANT MORE

1 March 2017

Jobi McAnuff says that he and his teammates are pleased to have finally cracked the top 7 for the first time this season, but don’t want to stop there and will remain hungry.

Tuesday night’s 4-1 win over Leyton Orient was our fifth home win in a row but McAnuff knows that there is no time for reflection.

“Psychologically it is a nice boost because obviously we have been on a good run and sometimes it felt like we haven’t really moved considering the performances.

“Mentally it is a good step in the right direction but we want more. We are not satisfied with just that, we have worked very, very hard to get into this positon and we now have to work even harder to stay there and push up.”

Only Doncaster have scored more goals in Sky Bet League Two than Boro this season and McAnuff says it is a pleasure to be playing in the team at the moment.

“We feel a big threat in lots of different departments, whether it be from set pieces or open play, everyone is chipping in.

“It is very enjoyable. We have got a great freedom to go play and express ourselves. As forward players in particular, that is all you can ask for. But then it is about producing, scoring, assisting or contributing to goals.

“We have been doing that and obviously he boys at the back have been chipping in with a few from set pieces too.”

Finally, McAnuff joked when asked about the fans chants of “We are going up!” and says that Saturday’s game at home to Notts County is all he is focused on.

“It is better than we are staying up! We are certainly moving in the right direction but step by step we will just take each game as it comes. We will stay focused, dust ourselves down and get ready for Notts County.

“They have picked up a bit recently so obviously we won’t be taking anything for granted.

“With the form and the way we are playing, we should go into it very optimistic and looking for another good result.”
