SARLL: IT'S A REAL GOOD OPPORTUNITY FOR US TO PUSH ON

13 February 2017

A run of three straight wins has moved Boro back into the top half of the table and feeling hungry ahead of the final stretch of games this season.

Although currently in fine form, Darren Sarll knows that the team will need to be at their best once again tomorrow night.

“I think the league this year tells you that you can never have a night off. The consistencies or inconsistencies of the league in general tells you that if you take your foot off the gas, someone will be ready to take your place. We don’t want to relinquish 10th place. We want to build on it and certainly don’t want to drop below 10th.

“We have got an ambition and a hunger here and that is why the players respond all the time to a little bit of uncertainty, a little bit of criticism - they have always responded.

“You can’t be complacent playing against a Gary Johnson side. He is too clever, too smart and too experienced for us to take our foot off the pedal.”

Recent results have given a fresh outlook on the season and despite the camp feeling positive at the moment, Sarll knows that it can quickly turn.

“We are in a good place. I would rather be going into games feeling this emotion than on the back of a few defeats. The players have just got to now show the consistency we have craved all year.

“Hopefully we are showing it at just the right time and if the consistency is retained, there is no reason why we can’t have real high hopes.

“This is going to be a tough game, let’s make no bones about it. It’s a tough game and Gary is a tough character. He is going to expect nothing more than a response from his players after Saturday and we have got to be fully prepared for that.

"But if we concentrate on what we do, our standard of performance has been so high of late, we have just got to keep replicating that work ethic and we will be fine.”

Tomorrow’s game is the first home Tuesday Night league game of the season and Sarll says everybody is looking forward to the occasion.

“When someone told me that I couldn’t quite believe it. I like the night games like I think everyone does. The players like the evening games and it brings a different type of feel and atmosphere to the ground.

“The most important is it’s a real good opportunity for us to push on, maybe challenge for ninth and put ourselves in a real good position ahead of Exeter.
