Darren Sarll hailed his players after a thumping 3-0 win against Portsmouth in which his side put the visitors to the sword in impressive style.
Having suffered a first defeat in ten on Tuesday night, Sarll praised the players for their response after a demanding week.
“I thought they were terrific all afternoon. It was a big game and it has been a tough week, a tough seven days. The drain emotionally and physically after Luton and then the travel and performance at Blackpool.
“Like I keep reminding everyone, the one thing this team always does it respond and wow, they responded unbelievably well today.”
Stevenage’s incredible form since the turn of the year shows no sign of letting up and Sarll says the team have a perfect symmetry right now.
“We seem to have a lovely harmony about us now where everyone understands what is expected of them and that has taken time. They believe in everything we want them to do and the fact they believe, makes it very easy to manage them.
“If they didn’t believe, it becomes a different story but when you have got the team all on the same page, in sync with each other and with the quality and athleticism we have got, they can be very special on their day.”
With just eight games to go, Stevenage are now fourth in the table and very much in the fight for promotion.
Next up is a local derby at Cambridge and Sarll is looking forward to letting the players rest before going again.
“Massive, huge. A bit similar to the Luton game obviously because of the geographic locality of it.
“Those seven days, I can’t stress to the people in the stands how tough those seven days were for the players physically and mentally.
“It is a good chance now to let them breathe, let them clear their minds, let them clear their legs and we will get ourselves ready for a massive derby.”
