SARLL: WE ARE IN A GOOD PLACE

8 December 2016

Fresh off Tuesday’s win at Newport, Darren Sarll hopes to deliver a big performance and result at home to Blackpool this weekend to consolidate Stevenage’s place in the play-off picture.

Three wins out of the last four games have propelled the club up the table and Sarll says he hopes to continue climbing.

“The dust settles very quickly when you win. You don’t enjoy your wins as much as you hate and despise the losses so the dust settles very quickly and you have to put yourself into a position to lead the group into the next challenge.

“I think it is the highest the club have been since May 2015 so it has been a long time coming.

"We are really positive about where we are. We are not callous or complacent because there is still an element of disappointment within the building that we are ninth, because that is not where we want to be, we want to be in the top seven.

“Our drive and motivation is to continually evolve and improve. We are doing that week-in, week-out and the group is as close as ever.”

Blackpool will arrive at the Lamex on Saturday in a similar vein of form and very much full of confidence themselves.

Both sides are currently on the same points tally but the manager has full confidence in his players.

“We are in a good place. Winning breeds winning, we have won a lot lately and we expect to win on Saturday. It certainly doesn’t breed complacency because it is so enjoyable that you will do anything to keep it going.

“We deserve it to ourselves now to go and put on a good show at home.

“I think they are a good side. They have good attacking intent and have a couple of players that I have worked with before and know very well.

“If we want to turn ninth into eighth, seventh into sixth and so on and so forth, we have got to take on every team.

“They will be looking at us and we have pretty similar form of late so it will be a good test. If the players continue to do as they are asked, we seem to be getting points. If they continue to do that we will be fine.”
