CHARLIE LEE: "WE'VE GOT MORE CONFIDENCE"

26 December 2014

After today's 2-0 win at Dagenham handed Stevenage their second away win of the season, midfielder Charlie Lee said it was a good reward for the hard work the team has put in recently.

Having just shaded the first half on chances, the second half at Victoria Road was one of dominance for Boro and Charlie said the recent fitness work is now showing on the pitch.

He told Boro Player, "We know we’ve got the legs on most people. We know the pitches are getting heavy and there’s a lot of games coming up, so we’re looking so strong and they couldn’t handle us today. There was only going to be one result."

Charlie scored his sixth goal of the season from close range, after seeing his initial header hit the bar, to put Boro ahead and he talked us through his strike: "I probably should have scored the header if I’m honest. I got up quite well but it was a rubbish header. However it managed to come back down, there was a scramble and I just hit it. It went in and that’s all that matters.

"At the start of the season we hadn’t been used to winning. Now we’ve got a lot more confidence."
