CHRIS BEARDSLEY: "IT'S ALWAYS GOOD TO SCORE"

18 April 2015

Talking to us after his goal rescued a point for Boro at Accrington this afternoon, Chris Beardsley said it was a difficult game to describe.

“Obviously the sending-off in the first minute completely changed the whole dynamic of the game. I thought they dealt with it better, got ahead 1-0 and then I thought for the rest of the half we seemed to put pressure on them, got the equaliser from the penalty and then before half time we really should have been going in the lead.

"To concede the second one was poor really. Second half they’ve tried to break the game up, which you can understand as they’re down to 10 men and we’ve got one back in the end. It’s a big learning curve for us today, as a team and as a squad and we’ve got to be better when we play Carlisle at home next week."

Talking us through his equaliser, Chris said, “Yeah it’s pleasing to get a goal and to get a point. It was a great cross from Bruno, a great header by Bira and it’s nice to see it hit the back of the net. It’s always good to score and hopefully I can get a couple more between now and the end of the season.”

Finally a win at home next weekend to Carlisle will see Stevenage’s playoff place confirmed but Chris insists it’s just another game and the players will concentrate on winning the three points as they do every other week.

“For us it’s the next one. We’ll be getting right on it to make sure we’re prepared. They’ve had a good win at home today. We’ll try and get the atmosphere going like the last two home games, get The Lamex rocking and hopefully the fans will be up for it as we will be.”
