DARREN SARLL: "WE'VE THOROUGHLY DESERVED A POINT"

14 November 2015

Speaking after Stevenage’s 2-2 draw at Yeovil Town this afternoon, first team coach Darren Sarll told us the squad showed some real battling qualities and deserved their point on the road.

“We’re getting a more resilient group, a more resilient side. I think we’ve got a greater nucleus to us now and real strength. It was really important today when we went behind that we showed that we could stay in the game and we can make sure we had a chance of taking something away from us.”

A blustery day at Huish Park meant conditions were tricky for both sides however Sarll said Boro coped well in the circumstances.

“The conditions affect you however much you allow them to, I think it’s a mentality. I think we showed today, even when we went behind that we stuck in there. With the wind I thought we played terrifically well against it in the first half and I thought that was really pleasing that we utilised it when we needed to and we’ve thoroughly deserved coming back with a point.”

There was plenty of team spirit on show on the pitch but Darren believes it’s part of an overall club spirit and took time to praise the travelling supporters.

He said, "You saw the fans in the corner who travelled all this way and make the effort they do. They were a real 12th man in the second half and I thought they really helped suck that ball into the net. They gave the boys lots of encouragement. It’s not been an easy time at the club, but you can see everyone’s sticking together. You saw the players sticking together but you saw the fans sticking together as well which was really pleasing.”
