STEVENAGE FC FOUNDATION NOMINATED FOR COUNTY BUSINESS AWARD

Stevenage FC Foundation has been shortlisted in the Hertfordshire Business Awards for its work in the local community.

The Foundation have been nominated for the Social Enterprise of the Year Award, having previously been finalists in 2013 for the Business in the Community category. 

This award is open for any social enterprise that contributes to the environment, community and society. Amongst other things the judges will be looking for evidence of the environmental, society or economy projects the company is involved in; the contribution the project has made to the environment or community and its commitment to future projects.

Currently the Foundation work with over 50 local schools and deliver over 100 sessions a week to youngsters involved in schools, community groups and youth organisations. Its recent National Citizen Service schemes, held in the summer and this autumn, has seen the Foundation engage with 180 16/17 year olds on a number of social action projects and residential trips away. It has also provided over 2,000 hours of volunteering opportunities and given the chance for local people to attend The Gambia in 2015 to continue the excellent charitable work carried out this year in the village of Sitanunku, in partnership with Football Gambia.

The winner of the Social Enterprise of the Year Award will be announced at the Hertfordshire Business Awards ceremony held at Knebworth House on Thursday 27th November. For more information on the awards please click here.
