GW: THE LADS WANT TO GO SOMEWHERE WITH THEIR SEASON

4 March 2015

The gaffer on Tuesday night's win over Plymouth...

GW says that the players were willing to stay patient last night in pursuit of the three points, a tactic that worked as a late counter-attacking goal from Andrade snatched the three points for Boro.

“It was a long time coming tonight. We had to dig deep in the first half, the conditions were tough and we had to really dig in against the conditions. It was difficult to get out of our own half at times but we knew that they were a side that conceded late goals so we were always willing to be patient and in the end it was a terrific counter attack goal that won the game.

“We dug in, towards the end of the half I thought we started to see our physical strengths come through. The dynamism of Parrett coming out the middle, the dynamism of Pett. We have got some terrific, bright players and they came into their own as the half wore on and as the opposition tired. Late on in the game and throughout the second half I thought we were very front-footed and played very well.”

The victory against Plymouth caps off a five game unbeaten run, four of the games against fellow promotion challengers and the gaffer praised the team for the way they have gone about their work.

“Every three points needs earning at this time of the year. The boys have shown a great appetite tonight, loved their desire. You could see the unity and strength of spirit that was out there and that is a great sign at this time of year.

“Some sides get stronger when the pressure comes on, they thrive on the circumstances and some sides start to buckle. It is great to see the lads enjoying it, playing with a verve, looking as though they want to go somewhere with their season.”
