HOBAN: WE JUST HAVE TO LOOK FORWARD TO TUESDAY NOW

7 February 2016

On-loan striker, Pat Hoban felt that Stevenage should have got something out of Saturday’s game against Crawley after a disappointing afternoon at the Lamex.

Although Boro applied plenty of pressure on the Crawley goal, the amount of clear cut chances was still lacking and Hoban says the team are capable of much more.

“It was tough but I still thought we were the better side. We didn’t play too well in the second half but in the first half we had a few chances, I had one as well but it was just disappointing to go in 1-0 down at half-time.

“The wind was quite strong, especially in the first half and you just have to do the best you can. I thought the first half went ok but the second half wasn’t great by my account and everybody’s account really. There is so much more in the side, we can do a lot better than that."

Hoban’s best chance came in the first half, a swiping shot from the edge of the box that forced Paul Jones into action.

“It was a good move. I was hoping I would get my foot more around the ball but I still struck it well and it was a good save from the keeper."

Having taken the lead in the first half, Crawley were able to defend their lead for the rest of the game and Hoban said the visitors made it tough to break them down.

“That is just the way football is - they defended for their lives, put everyone behind the ball, they were kicking it anywhere and they got that goal at the end of the day and made it really difficult for us. We just couldn’t get the equaliser.

“They score one out the blue and then all of a sudden you find yourself in an uphill task to try and get the equaliser, don’t even mind the winner.

“We just have to look forward to Tuesday now and make sure out mind-sets are right, which I’m sure they will.

“We will put today behind us and make sure we try and get three points on Tuesday.”
