DARIUS CHARLES AND TOM CONLON REACT TO SHREWSBURY WIN

13 September 2014

Fresh from making his full Football League debut, on-loan midfielder Tom Conlon was a happy man after helping his new side to all three points against Shrewsbury this afternoon.

The 18-year old has signed on loan from Peterborough until January, along with defender Michael Richens (19), and told Boro Player, "It was brilliant and great to get a full 90 as well. The fans were brilliant and it's a great feeling for me and a great achievement.

"We showed great character to see it though. We know we can play better football than we did then, but it’s games like that you just have to deal with."

Describing his style of play, Tom tells us "I’m good on the ball, I like to pass it but, in games like that, if I have to turn it into a battle then I can do that. A perfect game for me would be a passing game, getting on the ball a lot and making chances."

Meanwhile on his winning goal, Darius Charles told us, "Whether you’re up front or in defence a set piece is a great chance for anyone to get a goal. I’m up there for set pieces so it was nice to get a goal from one today.

"We spoke at half-time about probably having to hit them on the counter-attack and really making them pay, which we didn’t. That meant we dropped a little deeper and we invited a little bit more pressure but we dug in and got the result thankfully.

"It’s early days yet. We’re still a very new group, still getting to learn each other and we’re only going to get better. "
