GW: "THE ONLY THING A MANAGER WANTS IN ANY CUP IS A HOME DRAW"

17 June 2014

Manager Graham Westley has given his reaction to today's Capital One Cup first round draw which has handed Stevenage a home tie against Hertfordshire neighbours Watford.

He told us, "The only thing that a manager wants in any cup is a home draw. That always gives you your chance, irrespective of the opposition.

"To draw a local club in a derby fixture is terrific for club finances and to draw a Championship club with such a strong team is a great opportunity for our players to prove themselves as being better than the level they will start at this season.

"We beat Ipswich at home at this stage last season and we will be a stronger team this year, so of course we have a winning chance. Taking it won't be easy. But beating League 2 opponents won't be easy either. Football is a tough game."
