Boro Player spoke to Filipe Morais after he continued his return from injury with almost a full game away to Portsmouth, and he gave high praise to the Stevenage faithful who made the trip.
The winger come striker played 85 minutes in attack during the goalless draw, which allowed vital minutes to get into his legs and also gave him the chance to show the travelling supports a little more of what he can do.
Speaking after the game Morais said: “It wasn’t long ago that I was injured and out for six or seven weeks, it was a big ask [to play so long] because I’ve not trained a lot, but I got nearly 90 minutes today so I’m really happy with that.
“The manager has been keen on getting me straight in which has been good and he likes me up front which I am delighted with as well because I feel I can make more of an impact up there so it has been good, I couldn’t ask for more really.”
When asked if he was tiring towards the end of the game the former Oldham Athletic man joked “Towards the end? Probably twenty minutes before that!
“I hung in there, and it’s good because it’s in the tank now and I’ll be in a much better position next Saturday. I can work hard again all week, have a few more runs and I’ll be looking good for next Saturday.”
Over 500 Stevenage supporters made the journey and in a 12,000+ crowd they could still be heard. Morais was delighted with the numbers and noise from the Boro fans and commented: “They were loud, I could hear them all game and there was a lot of banter coming from them actually, it was quite funny.
“I heard a few things that I won’t say on camera but it was great support and as always they were loud; it’ll be good next week at home again, a tough game again, and I’m sure they’ll be right behind us again, really loud.”
