RONNIE: WE NEED TO STICK TOGETHER AS A FOOTBALL CLUB

9 October 2015

Club captain, Ronnie Henry says Boro’s poor run of form is down to the players on the pitch and that senior players such as himself need to help turn recent fortunes around.

“It isn’t easy to put your finger on it to be honest with you as we are working hard on the training ground, we have been in every day to put things right.

“It is difficult at the moment, we have got to try and keep our heads up.

“Personally, it is down to the players on the pitch. The management; the gaffer, Sarlly and Watto are doing everything they can, every day.

“I know that obviously he (the manager) gets the brunt of the stick but it has got to be down to the players on the pitch. He has put across what he wants us to do and we need to put it into practice on game day and it isn’t quite happening.

“As I said, we need to be hard on ourselves as players, especially as senior players and we need to start getting results.”

The skipper spoke about how important it is that the fans stick with the team through the difficult times.

“I am just really disappointed at the moment but the fans have been great, I am just asking them basically just to stay with us because I have been at a club when the fans turn and it makes it a lot more difficult.

“I know they are going to be great in the long run and we need to stick together as a football club and we will definitely get out of this situation.

“Someone like myself, I don’t just go home and switch off. It is affecting me at home, I obviously think a lot during the evening and it affects my home life to be honest with you because obviously I love this football club and I love winning football games.”

With three quarters of the season still to go, Ronnie says there is plenty of time to get moving up the table starting at Exeter on Sunday.

“I said to some of the lads the other day, we have got a long time to recover from this, we have got 30 odd games left. It is not like it is the end of the season but we need to get this knuckled down right now, starting away at Exeter.

“We need to stop talking about things we should be doing, we need to do it.”
