Despite extending Boro’s unbeaten run to four games, last Saturday’s draw against York was a frustrating one as a second half comeback put Stevenage in a commanding position before the visitors pulled a goal back to level the match.
Teddy Sheringham says that the team have worked on what went wrong and are now focused on how to beat Barnet tomorrow.
“They stopped us doing what we wanted to do last week and it was very frustrating. We have talked about things throughout the week; we have made points about what happened, not just verbally but showed them on the video what we can do better and we have worked on it.
“Hopefully we will know in future what to do in those circumstances.
“Saturday’s game brings a completely different problem for us; it is a completely different game to what we had last Saturday.
“First of all we are playing away from home; Barnet will be trying to get on the front-foot.
“They play a different shape, different system and we have been working on that rather than what we could have done on Saturday.”
Barnet have had a difficult re-introduction to the Football League after promotion last season but Teddy says their manager brings an intensity to his teams that Boro will have to match.
“They have not had the greatest start but any team that Martin Allen puts out; you know they will have a lot of fight about them, a lot of desire and a lot of commitment. Let’s hope we don’t get the backlash of their not-so-good start.
“The way I see it, anyone can beat anyone in this league so we need to be at our utmost best to get anything out of this game again.”
Yesterday, Dean Wells signed a contract extension with the club and Teddy was thrilled to secure the centre-back's services.
“Delighted that Deano has signed again. It brings a consistency to the football club.
“I think for centre-halves, if they are very good they need to play at football clubs for 3, 4, 5 years, maybe even longer. The way he plays brings stability; he brings a confidence to the football team knowing that he is going to compete every time the ball comes into that area.
“His talking is getting better, he is taking on board exactly what I am after and he wants to work.
“I am delighted to have him here for another year at least.”
