ANDREW FOX: "I CAN'T WAIT TO GET STARTED"

23 June 2016

Earlier this afternoon we announced the signing of Andrew Fox and moments after signing his paperwork, we caught up with the former Peterborough man.

The 24-year is Boro’s second new arrival of the summer after the signing of Matt Godden from Ebbsfleet and the defender is looking forward to getting started.

He told us, “I’m really pleased to be here. My contract was up at Peterborough and I knew Stevenage were interested in me. I spoke to the manager and here I am, looking forward to a good season.”

Describing himself as an attack-minded full back or even winger, he said, “I love to run with the ball, I love to attack, I like to get up the pitch and try and influence play.”

Prior to joining the Posh, Huntingdon-born Andrew spent four years in the United States playing football whilst studying for his degree at St Edward’s University in Austin, Texas.

“I was never at a professional club and just played local football and men’s football when I was 16. By 18 I thought my chances of playing professionally had gone, so I thought it’d be great to go out to America and if I could keep playing football, that’d be a bonus. I ended up doing well out there and signed for Peterborough after my graduation.”

Arriving at The Lamex Stadium, he said “I’m really impressed. I came up here with the manager yesterday and then he took me to the training ground, where I had my medical and it all looks fantastic. He’d been telling me what great facilities you had here and it all looks wonderful.

“I’m very much looking forward to the season ahead and I can’t wait to get started.”
