Stevenage will complete a loan move for Fulham defender Alex Smith, pending Football League approval, whilst former Arsenal and Sunderland forward Roarie Deacon has signed on a free transfer.
Both are aged 21 and have Premier League backgrounds; Smith is now in his 11th season at Craven Cottage, joining in 2002 and earning a pro contract in 2009. He made his Premier League debut for the side this season, coming on as a substitute for Damien Duff against West Bromwich Albion. He spent a period on loan with Leyton Orient earlier this season and made two appearances for the side.
Deacon came through the ranks with the Gunners and soon became a regular in the Reserves, making 16 appearances and scoring 4 league goals. He was part of the Arsenal Under-19s side to reach the semi finals of the Dallas Cup, scoring three times in the prestigious youth tournament.
For the Black Cats, the London-born attacker made five appearances, three in the League Cup and two in the FA Cup this season, whilst he has also represented England at youth levels.
