Last season…

Carlisle suffered relegation from League 1 last season after finishing just three points above Boro, five points adrift of safety.

For the first half of the season Carlisle performed well and by mid-February, the Cumbrians were 14th in the league. They were just about to go on a horrible run of form though which would see them plummet to the lower reaches of the division.

Just one win out of their final 14 games doomed the club to relegation and it was the team’s lack of goals that really cost them over the course of the season. The Cumbrians had the worst attack in the league, failing to score in an astonishing 18 games out of 46.

So far this season…

After a shocking start to the season which saw the Cumbrians lose six of their first eight league games and depart with their manager Graham Kavanagh, Carlisle have now won their last two games in the league. Despite the up-turn in form since Keith Curle was appointed, the club are still second from bottom and at first glance, face a tough season ahead.

Recent form:

Last time we met…

Boro and Carlisle battled out a 0-0 draw back in March, as Stevenage extended their unbeaten run to six games. The conditions in Cumbria were far from ideal, however the result meant that the fight for survival seemed well and truly on as Stevenage closed the gap on 20th place to just one point.

Boro team that day:

Day, Obeng, Charles, Mousinho, Ashton (Wedgbury - 45') Dembele, Akins, Smith, Zoko, Freeman, Doughty (Morais - 91' )

Head to Head:

Over the years Boro have played Carlisle 9 times, winning 3 times, losing on 4 occasions and drawing twice. The last time Boro won in Carlisle was the first time the two clubs met, back in 2005 when a Stamp double secured the points.

Betting with SkyBet:

Official league sponsors, Sky Bet have Boro priced at 19/10 underdogs on Saturday – meaning a £10 bet would net you £29 in return.

After scrapping out a 0-0 draw last time the two sides met in Carlisle, you can back the same scoreline at 9/1, whilst a 1-0 Boro win is 15/2.

As for first goal scorers, Charlie Lee is the best value in the team at 16/1, although Whelpdale and Pett are 10/1 and 11/1 respectively.
