Stevenage fans are being called upon to show their true colours for Boro’s opening home game of the new league season against Hartlepool United on Saturday 9th August.
As the new Sky Bet Football League season kicks-off, fans across the country are being set the challenge of creating a ‘Wall of Colour’ at their side’s opening home league match. Fans can get involved by donning their club’s famous colours, as well as finding the most innovative ways to show off their love for their team through social media using #WallofColour.
Boro will be looking to kick off the new season in style, with the first home result often proving a useful pointer to a team’s prospects for the season ahead. Last season, none of the 10 clubs that won promotion from the Sky Bet Championship, League 1 or League 2 lost their first home league match. Additionally, none of the 9 clubs that were ultimately relegated won their opening home game.
Shaun Harvey, the Chief Executive of The Football League, said: “The beginning of the new season is always a special time, with supporters full of hope and expectation that this season is going to be their year.
“It’ll be great to see fans coming together to create a Wall of Colour at Stevenage and I hope that Boro supporters rise to the challenge. Every side will want to make a strong start to the new season and the three points on offer could go on to make all the difference when the trophies are being handed out next Spring.”

What we’ll do:
We’ll be offering prizes for the best photo we receive in advance of match day, the best adult we can find on the day of the Hartlepool game who has embraced the Boro #WallOfColour idea and award a free mascot package to the best Under-16 we can find at the game who has embraced the Boro #WallOfColour idea.
We’ll take all the photos we receive in advance and snaps of the crowd on the day and put them into our own special Boro Wall of Colour display which we’ll put up at The Lamex Stadium for all to see.
Ways you can show your true colours:
The obvious one – clothing!
If you’ve not yet purchased the new red and white Fila home shirt then what are you waiting for? You can buy online right now or come into the Boro Shop. On the day of the game
Don the famous red and white stripes to the game or find the most innovative ways of dressing up in our colours that afternoon. Wear a wig, get your face painted, bring your balloons and banners or maybe wear something a bit different that might be red and / or white. Morphsuit anyone? The more innovative, the better! Remember there are prizes up for grabs...

You might be up a mountain, on the beach, bungee jumping, sightseeing....the possibilities are endless. Don’t forget to show your love for Stevenage on the move by adding a touch of red and white to your cars, vans, lorries etc. We’ve got Boro accessories available in the shop or you can be creative yourselves! Simply take a snap of you by your colourful motor and we’ll use that in our display.
Decorate your house
Why should it only be Christmas and Halloween when you get creative at home? Deck the halls with red and white, show us your Boro posters, collages and shirt collection. Maybe you’ve got a whole Boro collection at home?! Take a photo of you with it and we’ll use that too
