  • Onto the game…

After getting off to a brilliant start in the league, Boro have picked up just one point from the past three games and will be eager to get back onto the winning trail this Saturday.

Despite the set-back there was a confident and focused feel to the group during the week, safe in the knowledge that three points against Morecambe will go some way to making up for the recent dip in form.

Still well placed in the table and just four points away from third place, the overall start to the season remains a positive one.

Morecambe sit three points back of Boro and are right in the thick of it themselves after a good couple of results heading into Saturday's game.

An opening day win against Cheltenham got the Shrimps off to a great start this season, but it took until their most recent game - at home to Newport - to get back into the win column.

That result followed on from a midweek draw at Yeovil, meaning four points from the last two games has them in their best form of the season.

Club stalwart, Kevin Ellison is still doing what he does best – four goals already this season making him their top goalscorer.

  • Team news…

The big news coming out of Bragbury End this week is Kyle Wootton’s return to fitness following his Deadline Day move last month. Wootton has been training with the squad over the past few days and is considered fit and available for selection.

Meanwhile, Jack King is unlikely to return to action after Glenn Roeder yesterday stressed the importance of not rushing him back from injury.

  • View from both camps...

Stevenage Managerial Advisor, Glenn Roeder…

“They have four points from their last two games after not starting the season so well. I have watched them a lot this week myself and it is still the same Jim Bentley team that plays it out from the back, wants to pass the ball and play attractive football.

“We have made our plans, worked hard on those plans and hopefully we can counteract them and get us the win that we need. We will certainly be pressing hard anyway.

“We expect 3 points whoever we are playing, whether it is the team top of the table or team in the bottom 5 or 6. We expect 3 points - that is how high our standards have been set.”

Morecambe boss, Jim Bentley…

“The lads have trained well, there is a good spirit and coming off the back of two good results we are hoping to have a successful week starting with Stevenage away.

“The squad is looking good and there is healthy competition in all areas of the pitch.

“It is good to have Vadaine back available for us and he offers something different going forward.”

  • Previous meetings...

Stevenage and Morecambe have a long and storied history, with Saturday’s meeting being the 37th between the two sides. Of those 37, Boro have won 16, drawn 11 and only lost 9.

Prior to last season’s play-off denting 1-0 defeat at home, Stevenage had gone the previous 12 games against the Shrimps undefeated, stretching all the way back to 2005.
