Player Pathway Programme
The Stevenage FC Player Pathway programme offers the opportunity for players aged 7-16 years old, to receive extra technical coaching in additional to their fun community and grassroots based provision, in a challenging, structured environment.
Our programme is designed to strengthen our Academy infrastructure, provide Academy standard coaching and curriculums to all our players and give them the platform to learn, demonstrate their abilities and achieve their highest potential. Those who enter the programme will join in our Regional Centre, with those we perceive to be progressing well with the club having the chance to move across our pathway from Regional Centre to Emerging Talent, to possible Academy trials alongside our signed boys.
Pathway players are able to still play for their local grassroots clubs, but receive the following development provisions from our highly qualified Academy coaching team:
- UEFA B Qualified/Candidate coaching
- Academy influenced session structures
- A coaching syllabus which mirrors our Academy
- Opportunities to train with and against Academy teams
- Clear Player Pathway
- Full player based medical cover
- Player reviews every 12 weeks – Gradings and Individual Targets
- Competitive fixtures every 6 weeks to help assess development and progression

Regional Centres & Emerging Talent Centre
The Stevenage FC Regional Centres are the entry level for all new players welcomed into the club. Throughout our Pathway and in all our centres, we provide technical coaching sessions to improve ball mastery, develop better game-insight and game-based practices to build stronger understanding.
The Regional Centres form the initial step for players who want to begin their journey on the club’s Player Pathway, but who demonstrate an ability to be invited to join our programme. Similarly, the Centres are suitable for players who want to receive additional technical development in a more demanding environment.
Players in our Regional Centres receive one hour of coaching per week at either the Stevenage FC Centre or our new Enfield Regional Centre, having the opportunity to play in front of the club’s Academy scouts. As well as our Academy syllabus and session structure, we offer support to individuals to help them understand the areas to focus on to help fulfill their potential.
Those who show signs of development or who may need that additional challenge are invited to attend our Emerging Talent Centre. These are 90 minute sessions based at the Club’s Academy and are the next step across our Pathway, the step below our Academy. Sessions here mirror those of our Regional Centres and Academy, but the challenge increases for all.
All our centres operate in line with the academic year in term-based blocks with each player receiving a performance report at the end of each block. Pathways are also in place to fast-track suitable players in the Academy trial process.

Bishops Stortford Regional Centre
We’re pleased to announce that our Regional Centre’s are expanding, with a new programme opening up at Bishops Stortford College in the 2024/25 season.
After the success of our Enfield Centre launched during the 2023 season, we’re delighted to be able to give players in the region a magnificent opportunity to showcase their abilities and skills to our club, coaches and scouting network. This is a genuine potential pathway from grassroots to Academy football within the community. Our programme is also seen as an extra provision for those players wanting to develop their skills in a different environment.
The centre will offer sessions on a Friday evening at Bishops Stortford College for players aged 7-14 years old. Like our Stevenage and Enfield Centres, players will receive Academy level coaching with our technical syllabus and structure, all in a demanding, challenging environment.
Trial dates have been arranged for July 2024. Details of which are below:

Enfield Regional Centre
In September 2023, we were delighted to be able to launch our Regional Centre at Enfield Grammar School for the 2023/24 season!
We’re excited to continue to give players in the region a magnificent opportunity to showcase their abilities and skills to our club, coaches and scouting network. This is a genuine potential pathway from grassroots to Academy football within the community, which has currently seen 12 players move across from the centre to academy trials.
The centre offers sessions on a Friday evening at Enfield Grammar School for players aged 7-16 years old. Like our Stevenage FC Centre, players will receive Academy level coaching with our technical syllabus and structure, all in a demanding, challenging environment.
Spaces on this programme are currently by invitation only.
