Boro Player spoke to Lucas Akins as he prepares for this Saturday’s tie at the Lamex Stadium, and he said that the side are looking to put in a performance in memory of Mitchell Cole.
Speaking yesterday, Akins admitted that despite not being part of the club during Mitchell’s time here, it is clear how important he was at the club. He told us “I check the BBC quite regularly and when I saw it, knowing his age as well, it was devastating, it really was. The whole club, my thoughts and everyone’s thoughts go out to his family.
“We had our armbands on for Mitch, which I thought was the least we could do, it puts it into perspective when things like this happen. We’ll go out there and give it our all to try and get a result for him.”
Looking ahead to the game itself Lucas told us that he was looking forward to getting back to the Lamex, and said that the side are looking to “build some momentum” after picking up “some decent results” in the last few games.
“We’re back in the play offs and that’s where we want to say” he said, before continuing “We’ve kept nice and positive, we’ve shown great character with a few decent performances and results and we just want to build on it now.”
