Boro kick off 2013...
Boro Player spoke to Mark Newson today before the team set off on their travels to Walsall ahead of the New Years’ Day fixture at the Banks’s Stadium, and he said that the side are ready to take on the Sadlers.
First looking back at December, Newson commented “I think we always knew that the end of November and December would be tough. We looked at the fixtures and set ourselves a target, if we could stay within the pack and in the top ten leading into January then we would be more than happy and we are in that position.”
He described January and February as months that “look a little better” but added that it is “always difficult whether you’re playing teams in the top or around the bottom”.
Next up is the first game of 2013 and a trip to Walsall and Newson expects no easy task. “They gave us a tough game at our place earlier in the season; they’ve got some good young players and they like to play football so we know that it is going to be difficult but we’ve done our homework on them, we’re prepared and we would like to keep our good away form going.”
