PHILLIPS: “EVERYBODY’S KEEN”

20 December 2012

Boro Player spoke to Gary Phillips today ahead of a trip to his former club Brentford at the weekend, and he described a hungry camp looking for a performance.

Speaking about the trip to Griffin Park this weekend, Phillips said “It’s a massive game at the weekend, personally I am really looking forward to it as I spent four great years at that club. I’m looking forward to going back there but from our point of view it’s a place that hopefully we can go and pick something up to get back on track.”

He described the prospect of a sell out as ‘fantastic’ and continued “that probably suits us we seem to rise to occasions like that” and said he has “no worries about the players rising to that.”

The Christmas period is now in swing and Gary said that he hopes to get off to a good start as it is a chance to pick up a lot of points.

“We’ve got a really tough Christmas, obviously them [Brentford], Coventry, Notts Count and then away at Walsall. There’s nothing easy in any of those games but if you can get a run going, starting Saturday, alright our home form hasn’t been the best but they’re two sides that we need to be picking points up against.

“If we can come away with a haul of points over the Christmas period it will set us up nicely for the new year.”
