PRACTICE GAME AT WATFORD

11 December 2012

Stevenage took a reserve side to Watford’s London Colney training ground today (Tuesday) for a friendly against the Hornets.

The home side eventually won the game 4-3 in an entertaining match that delivered some minutes to first team players, a couple of trialists, and a mix of youth.

Stevenage went in two goals down at the break, the second an excellent header from a perfect cross into the box to beat Chris Day.

After the half time interval a trialist pulled one back with a spectacular strike off the underside of the bar before Robin Shroot leveled the tie with a low finish made possible by an excellent through ball from summer signing Matt Ball.

Boro conceded a third minutes later only to pull back again by another trialist goal but lost the game late on after a low shot into corner of the goal.

Gary Smith used the game as a chance to reintroduce some players into the side; Darius Charles played the first half at right back whilst Andy Iro was given the all-clear by on-loan club Barnet to take part in the centre of defence. He was partnered by Oliver Risser, with Lee Hills at left back.
