SHROOT EYES CHRISTMAS CRACKER

24 December 2012

Stevenage take on Coventry City at the Lamex Stadium on Boxing Day in what is set to be one of the biggest clashes of the season so far, and Robin Shroot is looking for a Christmas Cracker!

Christmas is coming but that isn’t all you have to be excited about, because we’re expecting a big crowd, lots of noise and hopefully a huge result from Gary Smith’s side.

Robin Shroot, fresh from signing a new deal at the club, will be looking to continue his rich vein of goal scoring form and whilst it is a tough game on the cards he told us that he will be preparing no differently.

“It’s just a bit of a novelty isn’t it really, a game so close to Christmas when everyone has opened their presents and been with their family. I think it’s good that we have a game against a high profile opposition on Boxing Day and hopefully we can continue to improve.

“I’m going into the game like I do every game – to try and score a hat trick. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I always want to try and score as many goals as possible.”

With an optimistic look ahead to the fixture, Shroot joked that “If you aim to win the game 10-0 and then achieve just a third of that then you’ll do alright!” and also admitted that a win for the fans would be perfect this time of year, saying “It would be fantastic to get the win and get everyone buzzing on the terraces.”

Robin and his team mates will be in training on Christmas Day with a busy festive period ahead, but that thought isn’t getting him down.

“I’m really looking forward to Christmas because we’re coming in to train and I love my job! I’ve never trained on Christmas Day before so I’m excited to do that and then prepare for the win on Boxing Day.”
