A Stevenage XI last night travelled to Eastbourne Borough and a team packed with trialists drew 1-1.

Boro went ahead in the first half when former Reading youngster Danny Carr found the back of the net but the side, which included just Steve Arnold and Michael Thalassitis from the first team, were pegged back by a late second half penalty.

Speaking after the match with Boreham Wood on Saturday manager Gary Smith described the Eastbourne game as one that “was added to the fixture list to try to see a little more of these guys who are on trial”.

Later discussing Wednesday night’s fixture with Tottenham Hotspur at The Lamex Stadium he called it “a much tougher prospect” and more of a “senior fixture”.

Stevenage from: Steve Arnold, James Knowles, Danny Shelley, Anthony Furlonge, Taylor McKenzie, Jess Parsons, Carl McHugh, Jhai Dhillon, Danny Carr, Matt Ball, Jon Stynes, Nathan Evans, Liam Enver-Marum, Lewis Moult, Dominic Knowles, Chris Pitharas.
