First looking back to the draw with Bournemouth on Tuesday night, Akins told Boro Player “It was a really tough game and we were expecting that because Bournemouth with Eddie Howe have been in really good form lately, but we showed a lot of character after the previous two results to really dig in and grind out a decent point.
“We had long periods under pressure and managed to get through it and it does wonders for the moral of the team to come out of that game with a point.”
Akins signed from Tranmere in the summer and he explained how he has been looking forward to this fixture for a while.
“It will be good to see my mates from Tranmere and it is a fixture I have been looking forward to as I came from there and from talking to the boys at Tranmere it should be a good game. They have done incredibly well this season as they are top of the league after 19 games and that is no coincidence so we will be on ours toes and I am looking forward to it.
“There are quite a few players there that were there from when I was playing and Ronnie Moore has brought in a few more faces that have done really well for the team. Come Saturday at three o’clock we defiantly want to be winning.”
After some disappointing results at home, Akins wanted to praise the fans for their support and patience during a bad run of games and hopes they can help urge the lads on in Saturdays game.
“The fans have been superb for us even though we have not done as well as we have wanted at home and they have got behind the team and cheered us on even though some results have been disappointing and the lads can’t thank them enough so hopefully they can get behind us again on Saturday.”
