PHILLIPS: "WE WILL WORK HARD"

29 November 2012

Gary Phillips spoke to Boro Player on Thursday as he assesses the impact that a week of training without a game at the end of it has on a side.

When asked if that affects things at all, Goalkeeper Coach Phillips said "No, it just means they work physically a little bit harder!"

He continued "Obviously we're really disappointed not to have a game this weekend, we'd love to be in the second round and unfortunately it's not to be so they will work very hard on Thursday and Friday to prepare them again or the following week away to Hartlepool."

Training can also be affected by the weather conditions and this week it seems that Winter has well and truly hit, speaking about how that can change the setup Gary said "It can do occasionally, we went onto the astroturf because of the rain and places were flooded but hopefully if it stays like this for a few days now we'll get plenty of training in and kick on ready for next week and to travel next Friday."

Next up is a trip to Hartlepool United on 8th December ad it is a match that is already in the minds of the coaching staff.

United currently sit at the foot of the division and Phillips is hoping to continue with a strong away record. "We must go away to Hartlepool and go there looking for a win which we're more than capable of doing and will put us back in the mix again. That's the target that we're aiming for."
