Newson Addresses Home Form

4 October 2012

Assistant manager Mark Newson spoke to Boro player about the great result against Nott’s County last weekend and how the team are aiming to improve on their home form.

Stevenage leap frogged County into second place after coming back from behind to win the game 2-1 and Newson believes that result shows how good this current squad of players are.

“It was always going to be a tough game; they have had a great start and have great resources at their disposal. We knew it was going to be tough and it gives us a chance to measure ourselves at how far we have come this year. To get three points at this time of year against a good side, we are more than pleased.”

With Boro winning four and drawing one away from the Lamex and vice versa at home, Newson and the backroom staff have highlighted some reasons for lack of home wins this season.

“At home the results have not been ideal only one win out of five but we will be looking to change that starting this Saturday.

“I think there are a couple of reasons for the difference in our home and away form, one of the reasons is the only game we have won we scored first so we need to stop conceding silly goals early on in games and it becomes a bit of a mind-set with confidence and maybe the players feel edgy at home with the fans which is understandable.”
