ROBERTS LOOKING FOR A BIG CROWD

22 October 2012

Boro Player spoke to captain Mark Roberts today ahead of his sides tie against Portsmouth at the Lamex Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Robbo put in a tremendous display, setting up the eventual winner that was scored by Lucas Akins, and he said that it was important to bounce back from defeat against Colchester United, not only for the morale but to also send a message to the rest of the teams in the league.

“I think a lot of people from outside were looking at us after the defeat at Colchester, with it being our first of the season and losing the unbeaten run, but the lads responded in magnificent fashion. It wasn’t just the result but the actual performance was one of our best all round and complete of the season.”

Next up for Stevenage is Portsmouth and Mark told us that he and his team mates are looking “to cement that position at the top of the table” before commenting on the effect that a good crowd could have on the players, he concluded "When the Lamex is packed and everyone is making themselves heard there is nothing like it. We've had some special nights here over the last couple of seasons and I'm sure Tuesday will be another one."
