TOUNKARA: I KNOW GOALS WILL COME

16 August 2013

Oumare Tounkara took time-out before training to speak to the official website about his time at the club so far and this weekend’s game v Leyton Orient.

The Frenchman joined earlier this summer after spells in England at Sunderland, Oldham and Bristol Rovers and is pleased with his start at Stevenage.

“Yes it’s been a very good start to my time here, “he says. Before I came I knew Filipe Morais from my time at Oldham and Roarie Deacon from my time at Sunderland so it made things easier. All the lads are good with me though, I’ve settled in well and I’ve no problems whatsoever.

“It’s a shame that we’ve lost the first two league games of the season but League 1 is long and there are a lot of games in front of us. We have to stay confident and I’m sure good things will happen this season."

Oumare scored twice in pre-season for Boro but despite not finding the back of the net in the three first games of the season, he’s confident the goals will flow soon:

“Sometimes as a forward you score goals, sometimes it just doesn’t happen. You have to keep believing and I know in a game I will always create chances for myself, which is very good. I’m not worried, I know goals will come. Maybe I just need a bit of luck to go my way, but I will score goals."

Looking ahead to Saturday’s game at The Lamex Stadium, Oumare said, “I played Leyton Orient a few years ago but the team will have changed since then. We get so many reports here and so much information that we have a good idea how they’ll play. The manager takes every game very seriously and the preparation is very good. We just need to pick up that first win and I’m confident we can do that on Saturday.”
