2013 REVIEW - NOVEMBER

30 December 2013

Next up in our review of events on and off the pitch at Stevenage FC during 2013, it's November....

On the pitch:
Despite a 2-0 defeat at Wolves starting the month, successive cup wins against Portsmouth (2-1 in the FA Cup) and Leyton Orient (3-2 in the JPT) looked to have Boro back on track. However league form dipped and Stevenage conceded three on three occasions against Rotherham, Gillingham and Shrewsbury. The highlight of the month was undoubtedly a 1-0 win at Peterborough, courtesy of a goal of the season contender by Lucas Akins. It was a superb performance and an indication of the kind of form this team is capable of.

Off the pitch:
Graham Westley was nominated for the Sky Bet League 1 Manager of the Month award for October. Whilst Coventry's Steven Pressley was named winner, the nomination was excellent recognition of Boro's progress during the previous month.

Players continued to inspire local youngsters in the latest round of visits to schools with the Stevenage FC Foundation. Players took time before training to visit local primary schools and speak to pupils about motivation and leadership.

A Stevenage FC pop-up shop is launched in the Westgate Shopping Centre in the run-up to Christmas. The temporary stand is extremely popular with Boro fans and passing festive shoppers who take the opportunity to buy merchandise, stocking fillers and other Boro goodies for Christmas.
