2013 REVIEW - OCTOBER

30 December 2013

We move into October in our club review of 2013....

On the pitch
Whilst October began with a narrow 1-0 defeat to high-flying Coventry the performance suggested a change in Boro’s fortunes was just around the corner. And so this proved as Boro picked up four wins from their remaining five games in the month, including a 2-1 JPT win over MK Dons, home wins over Brentford and Crawley and 3-0 away win at Crewe. New signing Francois Zoko scored four times during the month and Filipe Morais three times as Boro looked a much improved side.

Off the pitch
The club announced the appointment of Barry Webber as its new CEO. The West Ham Commercial Director will join the club in January 2014 after three and a half years at Upton Park. Chairman Phil Wallace revealed, "This appointment shows our determination to interact with large commercial interests in Stevenage to a much higher level, to build our home attendances and to increase our financial platform so that we may establish the club at Championship level. We have the infrastructure to achieve all of those targets and Barry has the energy, skill set and enthusiasm to drive that forwards as CEO."

Hundreds of youngsters attended the Crawley game for free as part of our Halloween Special, many of whom also turned up in fancy dress. Over 16s were also encouraged to join in with the dressing up and resulted in the Grim Reaper taking part in the STS Tyre Pros "Through the Tyre" Challenge - you can see a clip of that here!

Stevenage scholar Fejiri Okenabirhie was recognised for his football and academic progress as part of a new national competition by League Football Education. The young striker was named in LFE's 'The 11' which recognises football and academic progress of 11 apprentice players across the land.

Photos of the Month:

Francois Zoko scores twice in the 2-1 win over Brentford

And Filipe Morais also scores twice this month, this time at Crewe - the second of which was a "Goal of the Season" contender
