We continue our look back at life on and off the pitch at the club during the past 12 months by looking at events in March....
On the pitch:
March was a mixed month with vital home wins against Brentford and Sheffield United being overshadowed by defeats to Colchester, Preston, Bournemouth and Bury, the final of which saw manager Gary Smith leave the club shortly afterwards.
Dani Lopez’s hat-trick against the Blades in the biggest win of the season for Boro was magnificent but Boro’s tepid display just days later at Gigg Lane was enough to convince the club a change of direction was required.
After skipper Mark Roberts took charge of the side for the defeat at Tranmere and a hard-fought draw at Crawley, Graham Westley was appointed Stevenage manager for the third time in the club’s history. He was joined shortly afterwards by a familiar face in the shape of assistant manager Dino Maamria.
Off the pitch:
Players joined fans in taking part in a FIFA 13 tournament which raised more than £250 for the club’s community trip to Kenya. Greg Tansey, Lucas Akins, Matt Ball, Bondz N’Gala and Steve Arnold all enjoyed their evening interacting with the supporters, even though none of them came close to winning the tournament.
