BORO SCOOP JPT TEAM OF THE ROUND AWARD

3 December 2013

Stevenage’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy exploits have been recognised after we become the latest club to win a Team of the Round award.

The club fought off stiff competition to claim the prize for our impressive 3-2 home victory over in-form Leyton Orient in the Area Quarter-Finals.

Stevenage’s blistering start did the damage with Francois Zoko, Lucas Akins and Filipe Morais all on target in a sensational opening 16 minutes for Graham Westley’s side, which saw the hosts open up what proved an unassailable lead.

The club will now receive a trophy as well as £200 of Johnstone’s Paint product to use on a club project, which will be provided by the nearby Johnstone’s Decorating Centre in Luton.

“Beating Orient was a terrific performance and it is good for the players that we have received the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy team of the round award. They deserve that credit,” said Graham Westley.

“We knew we needed a strong start against Leyton Orient with the form they were in and that’s exactly what we got.

“We know there is a lot of work to do now but we know the road to Wembley well and hopefully we can continue our good form in the competition in the area semi-finals.

“The Johnstone’s Paint product prize is a nice bonus and we are looking forward to put it to good use.”

Ben Wilde, Brand & Sponsorship Manager of Johnstone’s Paint, said: “There were a number of eye-catching performances in the Area Quarter-Finals and it was a very tough decision.

“But Stevenage’s display was very impressive when the early-season results of Leyton Orient were taken into account so there was no doubt they are deserving winners of the award.

“Our congratulations go to everyone who played a part in the victory.”
