LEAGUE 1 ROUND-UP

14 December 2013

We take a look at the results from around Sky Bet League 1 today...

Perhaps the biggest surprise in Sky Bet League 1 today was MK Dons' 2-0 win at second-place Wolves.

Goals from Patrick Bamford and Ben Reeves gave the previously out-of-sorts Dons all three points at Molineux.

League leaders Leyton Orient were held to a 1-1 draw at Bradford City. Russell Slade's men looked set for another three points courtesy of a first half Lloyd James strike, but were pegged back in second half injury-time by Nahki Wells.

In-form Brentford gave new manager Mark Warburton the perfect start with a late win over Oldham at Griffin Park. Jonathan Douglas scored the only goal of the game in the 90th minute to move the Bees upto third and make it eight victories out of nine.

Preston drop to fourth after letting a two goal lead slip at Crawley. Goals from Paul Huntingdon and Josh Brownhill had North End cruising just past the quarter-hour but second half strikes from Joe Walsh and Gary Alexander saw John Gregory pick up a point in his first league game for Crawley.

Britt Assombalonga scored twice as Peterborough came from behind to draw at Gillingham whilst Rotherham picked up a narrow 2-1 win at Bristol City - a result which puts the Robins bottom of the table.

Elsewhere in the lower reaches of the division, Crewe picked up an impressive point at Coventry with a 2-2 draw and Notts County thrashed Colchester 4-0 away to boost their hopes of staying up. Tranmere were thumped 4-1 at Carlisle but Sheffield United picked up a vital 1-0 win against Swindon.

The remaining game saw Walsall move up to ninth with a narrow 1-0 win at Shrewsbury.
