NEXT UP: WATFORD (H)

19 July 2013

Watford
Pre-Season Friendly
Saturday 20th July 2013
The Lamex Stadium, Stevenage
Kick Off: 3pm

Championship side Watford are the latest visitors to The Lamex this Saturday afternoon in Stevenage’s next pre-season fixture.

Graham Westley’s men have picked up two wins from two games so far, scoring eight and keeping two clean sheets, but this game against their Hertfordshire neighbours is sure to prove a much sterner test.

The Opposition
The Hornets were unlucky not to achieve promotion to the Premier League last season. Firstly they missed out on automatic promotion by just two points and they then lost the play-off final 1-0 to Crystal Palace. Renowned for playing entertaining football and finding the back of the net on 85 occasions in the league last season, Gianfranco Zola’s men are sure to prove an exciting spectacle and a tough task for Stevenage.

Watford have recently added to their cosmopolitan squad with the permanent signings of eight players, some of whom spent last season at Vicarage Road on loan from Udinese. Current Hornets Player of the Year Almen Abdi, Cristian Battocchio, Marco Cassetti and Daniel Pudil have returned to the club whilst Paraguayan striker Javier Acuna, Italian striker Diego Fabbrini and Italian defenders Marco Faraoni and Gabriele Angella are all new signings for Zola.

Watford squad from
Manuel Almunia, Jonathan Bond, Lloyd Doyley, Gabriele Angella, Maco Cassetti, Daniel Pudil, Marco Davide Faraoni, Tommie Hoban, Nyron Nosworthy, Jonathan Hogg, Sean Murray, Almen Abdi, Lewis McGugan, Cristian Battocchio, Connor Smith, Luke O’Nien, Troy Deeney, Fernando Forestieri, Diego Fabbrini, Britt Assombalonga, Uche Ikpeazu, Bernard Mensah, Javier Acuna
