Fans travelling to The Lamex on Saturday for the opening League 1 game of the season need to be aware of road closures affecting Junction 7 (Stevenage South) of the A1(M) this weekend.
From 00:00 Friday 2nd August the Junction 7 circulatory and Northbound entry slip and Southbound exit slip will be closed and are expected to remain so until 16:00 on Monday 5th August.
The closure forms part of traffic management plans for the Eastern Electrics Festival, which takes place at Knebworth House from Friday 2nd August to Sunday 4th August. Other road closures include Old Knebworth Lane, Hitchin Lane and Drivers End Lane, all of which are in Knebworth.
Traffic is expected to be heavy so supporters travelling to Stevenage via the A1(M) are advised to come off at Junction 8 (Stevenage North) and follow one of the two following routes:
Route 1
• Take the A602 into Stevenage, passing Sainsbury’s on your right.
• Continue over the next roundabout on the A602.
• Continue to follow the A602 for approximately three miles past Stevenage Old Town, Tesco Extra, Stevenage railway station and Asda until you reach the roundabout with The Lamex Stadium in front of you.
• Take the first exit, continuing on the A602 and take the next left into the Fairlands Valley car park.
Route 2
• Take the A602 into Stevenage, passing Sainsbury’s on your right.
• Continue over the next roundabout on the A602.
• Take a right at the next roundabout onto the A1072 Gunnels Wood Road.
• Follow this road straight over two roundabouts and through the underpass.
• Turn left onto the A602 Broadhall Way.
• At the next roundabout (ground will be on your right) continue on the A602 (second exit) and match day parking is available at Fairlands Valley on your left.
