Leeds United
Pre-Season Friendly
Tuesday 23rd July 2013
The Lamex Stadium, Stevenage
Kick Off: 7.45pm

Championship outfit Leeds United visit The Lamex on Tuesday evening in Stevenage’s latest pre-season fixture.

Boro produced a strong and spirited performance at the weekend but ultimately lost 2-0 to a cosmopolitan Watford side who were more clinical on the day. With Graham Westley’s men showing good commitment and energy so far in pre-season, what better test to come next than against a well-backed Leeds squad.

The Opposition
Leeds had a mixed season in 2012/13, reaching the quarter-final of the Capital One Cup and the fifth round of the FA Cup but not really challenging for the playoffs in the Championship, finishing in 13th place. Indeed with six games of the season remaining the Whites found themselves just five points above the drop and manager Neil Warnock stepped down.

In came former Reading boss Brian McDermott who steadied the ship with four wins from those last half a dozen games and has since spent the summer reshaping his squad for the new season. Having steered the Royals to the Championship playoff final in 2011 and then into the Premier League the following season, you’d be foolish to bet against McDermott having a similar effect at Elland Road.

The United squad on Tuesday will combine exciting young talent such as England U21 defender Tom Lees, midfielder Luke Murphy, former Oldham striker Matt Smith and promising front man Dominic Poleon with experienced campaigners such as Paddy Kenny, Stephen Warnock, Michael Brown and El-Hadji Diouf.

Leeds squad from
Paddy Kenny, Jamie Ashdown, Alex Cairns, Lee Peltier, Adam Drury, Stephen Warnock, Tom Lees, Jason Pearce, Sam Byram, Ross Killock, Charlie Taylor, Paul Green, Aidan White, Michael Tonge, Michael Brown, Luke Murphy, Rodolph Austin, Danny Pugh, David Norris, Zac Thompson, Luke Varney, Chris Dawson, Ross McCormack, Matt Smith, Noel Hunt, El-Hadji Diouf, Dominic Poleon

Tickets
Adults: £15
Concessions and U21s: £10
