Goal scorer Lucas Akins was a happy man when speaking to Boro Player after today’s 1-0 win at London Road.

On his winning goal, he told us, “Michael’s played the ball out wide and I’m 1 v 1 with the defender. We’ve been working on that in the week, so it’s nice again when something we work on comes off.

“I’ve managed to come inside - I’m comfortable on my left or my right - and I’ve managed to put it out of the reach of the keeper. It was a great feeling when it went in.”

On the travelling support today he added, ”The fans were unbelievable. They outsang the home fans and they were there at the end. We just really appreciate the support. Honestly, when we’ve gone down to 10 men and they’ve carried on singing it felt like we had 12 men. It was quality and we’d like to thank them for that.”
