YOUNGSTERS BOUNCE BACK AT MK

25 November 2013

The Stevenage U18s came from 2-0 down to record a 4-3 win at MK Dons on Saturday.

Darren Sarll’s men bounced back from FA Youth Cup disappointment against Barton Rovers to secure their first win since late September, albeit they had to do it the hard way after conceding twice in the opening 15 minutes.

The turning point of the game came when Tyler Reading saved a first half MK Dons penalty, which would’ve put the hosts 3-0 up, with Boro gaining confidence and fighting back with two goals from a trialist and further strikes from Fejiri Okenabirhie and Lee Northfield.

Dons pulled one back but Stevenage held on to take all three points.

Darren told us, “Like many games this season we found ourselves 2-0 down inside 15 mins. But Tyler Reading saved a penalty and we went on from there. Tyler was outstanding throughout with much of his general play, including his distribution. Jamie Carey-Morrell also stood out for me.

“In terms of our scoring we had a young trialist who notched two excellent goals which he finished very comfortably. Fejiri showed tenacity and poise all in one moment and scored a terrific goal whilst Lee Northfield also bobbled one in, which is good for him."

Boro: Reading, Girdlestone, Carey-Morrell, Johnson, Jones, Casey, Northfield (Udoh 75), Towner, Yamfam (Millard 80), Okenabirhie, Trialist
