GW: FIGHT WAS BACK, SPIRIT WAS BACK

8 October 2013

Stevenage boss Graham Westley spoke to Boro Player after tonight's win over MK Dons and was quick to praise his players.

"It’s nice to break that horrible, losing run we’ve been on," he told us. "It’s been a long time since we saw a genuine performance from a Stevenage team. Tonight I think the fight was back, the spirit was back, the team ethic was back. I said to you on Saturday that there were a lot of improvement; it’s amazing what a goalscorer can do for a team isn’t it!

"We owed them didn’t we, let’s face facts. It was a poor display from us [at MK Dons in the league] and a really disappointing result. We owed them, we knew that but more important Wembley is four games away. Wembley is a massive opportunity for a club like ours and we need to do everything we can to get there. Certainly in the second half the players showed a real desire to do well for the football club."
