EVENTFUL WEEKEND FOR BORO LOANEES

23 September 2013

It was an eventful weekend for four of Boro’s loanees who recorded a win, a draw and a defeat amongst them - plus a goal and a red card.

Midfielder Matt Ball played 74 minutes as Boreham Wood picked up a point with a goalless draw at Ebbsfleet United in Skrill South, for whom Michael Thalassitis was a 63rd minute substitute against his former club. The striker sent a diving header over the bar from a corner before a superb goal line clearance denied him with six minutes remaining.

Elsewhere in the division Anthony Furlonge started his side’s 1-0 defeat at Eastleigh but was dismissed after 38 minutes for a second yellow. The defender had already been cautioned before going in for a 50/50 challenge in the Eastleigh box with the referee and linesman deeming it worthy of a second bookable offence. Former Boro striker Craig McAllister grabbed a second half winner.

Meanwhile in League 1 Notts County recorded a long overdue 2-0 home win against Tranmere, with substitute Marcus Haber scoring in the 79th minute with a close-range finish.
