The Stevenage U18s continued their recent good form with a 3-2 win at Watford on Saturday.
Darren Sarll’s men followed up their draw against AFC Wimbledon and win over Crawley with an excellent performance, made all the more sweeter by the fact the youngsters were 2-0 down after an hour. With the boys falling behind to two well worked goals the game changed with the introduction of Dale Gorman, with goals from Jimmy Hartley, George Casey and Ryan Johnson securing all three points.
“Overall it was an excellent performance," Darren told us. "We played well, remained the best team despite going 2-0 down and the introduction of Dale Gorman really propelled us into a position where we were more penetrative both defensively and offensively. It was a good day."
Barnet are the visitors to Shephalbury next Saturday morning (11am) – a game Darren is looking forward to: “Barnet is going to be a really good game. Having just come down from Category Two level they’ll be a really strong group, they’ll play a certain way which is very much identifiable within their academy teams. But it’ll be here, it’ll be on a nice pitch and I’m looking forward to it."
