LOAN WATCH: TOUNKARA SHINES IN TROPHY

2 February 2014

With the weather causing havoc to football fixtures up and down the country this weekend, including Boro’s game at Crawley, it was no surprise that just three Boro loanees found themselves in action.

Oumare Tounkara impressed in Grimsby’s 4-1 FA Trophy quarter-final win over Tamworth. The striker, making his home debut, set up Lenell John-Lewis for the Marriner’s 18th minute opener before scoring himself when he latched onto a long ball forward and found the back of the net from 12 yards.

In Skrill South, George Allen played the full 90 minutes as Bishop's Stortford fell to a 2-1 defeat at Bath City. The loss meant the Blues remain in 10th place and lost the chance to get ahead of rivals with just four points separating six playoff-chasing teams.

Elsewhere in the division Michael Thalassitis was a 71st minute sub for Ebbsfleet who could only draw 1-1 with Weston-super-Mare. Fleet remain third in the table.
