Despite the narrow 1-0 defeat to Notts County, manager Graham Westley was quick to praise his side's performance this afternoon.
The gaffer told Boro Player, "I’m standing here wondering how we didn’t get 3 points today. I really can’t believe the game went the way it did. The players put in a lot of good work, a lot of good effort. The spirit to win the game was there for all to see.
"I thought the players were terrific on Tuesday night and terrific again today. We did have our ups and downs in the game. There were one or two periods where they had a bit of pressure.
"Their keeper was man of the match and made a couple of brilliant saves. The save from Jimmy Smith at the corner in the first half - I don’t know how he saw it, let alone get to it. On a different day we get a very different result.
"But looking at the performance of the team as a whole, I think they were excellent today."
