New arrival Adam Marriott was in a confident mood after a goal on his Boro debut helped secure a 3-0 win at Arlesey in last night’s opening friendly.
He told us, “It’s important to get a win on the board and take it into the campaign. We’ve a few more pre-season games and hopefully we can keep winning and progressing as a team.
“I played here at Arlesey last season, I know what it’s about and I used that as a positive today. League 2 is a big step but it’s one I’m looking forward to. I’ve only known the boys for a few days now but they seem a good bunch, we’ve bonded quite well. It’ll take time to really get to know everyone, on and off the pitch.
“I’ve always scored goals and I believe I always will carry on doing that. It’s good to get my first one this season, obviously it’s not a competitive game, but it’s still a game you need to score goals to impress the manager and hopefully I’ve done that.
Marriott was joined up front by Darius Charles during his 45 minutes on the pitch and the former Cambridge City man was quick to compliment his strike partner: “He’s massive, he holds people off and that’s a positive for me. We linked up for my goal and hopefully we can continue to do that during the season.”
