GW ON CHESHAM WIN: "BOYS DID WELL THROUGHOUT THE 90 MINUTES"

27 July 2014

Manager Graham Westley spoke to Boro Player after the 3-1 friendly win at Chesham and explained how tricky this kind of game can be.

He told us, "We didn’t come here expecting an easy go of it. You know that one of the biggest factors is likely to be the physical factor, as games go on part-time sides are likely to tire, but in pre-season games where you can change 11 players over, big squads of part-time players can keep themselves going.

"We know the score, we know the script, we know what we’re going to get. Stevenage has recently enough been a non-league club itself so we underestimate nobody. It wasn’t going to be an easy challenge but I thought the boys did well throughout the 90 minutes."

A hat-trick from Adam Marriott was the main highlight of the game with the manager quick to praise his striker: “Adam was very sharp out there today. He’s growing in strength and growing in confidence and it’s good to see him get into those areas that good goalscorers get into.”
